Q3 GDP revision, November’s income & outlays, October’s construction spending

The key economic reports that were released last week were the "updated" estimate of 3rd quarter GDP and the combined October and November reports on Personal Income and Spending , both from the Bureau of Economic Analysis…since the latter includes two months of 4th quarter PCE data, it also accounts for nearly half of 4th quarter GDP…this week also saw the long delayed release of the October report on Construction Spending (pdf) from the Census Bureau…. 3rd Quarter GDP Growth Rate Revised Up to 4.4% in Updated Estimate Note: the initial estimate of 3rd quarter GDP, released on December 23rd, incorporated both what would normally be the advance and the second estimates, combined and late due to data losses during the shutdown…thus this updated estimate of 3rd quarter GDP replaces what would normally be the 3rd estimate, and hence is the last of the monthly 3rd quarter GDP updates…the 3rd estimate of 3rd quarter GDP was originally scheduled for release on December 23rd, ...

December’s consumer prices and existing home sales; November’s retail sales, industrial production, and producer prices, October’s business inventories and new home sales

Major reports released last week included the December Consumer Price Index , the November Producer Price Index , and the November Import-Export Price Index , all from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Retail Sales report for November and the associated Business Sales and Inventories report for October , both from the Census Bureau, the November report on Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization from the Fed, a long delayed Census Bureau report on New Home Sales for both September and October , and the Existing Home Sales report for December from the National Association of Realtors (NAR)…. in addition, the prior week saw the Regional and State Employment and Unemployment for October from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a report which breaks down the two employment surveys from the monthly national jobs report by state and region….while the text of that report provides a useful summary of this data, the serious statistics aggregation can be found in the tables linked at t...

December’s jobs report; November’s JOLTS; October’s trade deficit, housing starts, factory inventories, and wholesale trade, et al

Major economic reports released last week were the Employment Situation Summary for December and the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) for November, both from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the Commerce Department’s report on our International Trade for October , and the Full Report on Manufacturers’ Shipments, Inventories and Orders for October , and the October report on Wholesale Trade, Sales and Inventories , and the September and October reports on New Residential Construction , all from the Census bureau….also last week, the Fed released the Consumer Credit Report for November , which showed that overall consumer credit, a measure of non-real estate debt, increased by a seasonally adjusted $4.2 billion, or at a 1.0% annual rate, as non-revolving credit grew at a 2.0% rate to $3,770.9 billion in November, while revolving credit outstanding shrunk at a 1.9% rate to $1,313.9 billion… Privately issued reports released last week included the ADP Employment Repo...
